Top-class grand hotel presents 42 luxury rooms and suites with exclusive bathroom design

The Dom Hotel Cologne with its long history and tradition is located in the middle of Cologne, directly opposite the Cologne Cathedral on the cathedral square. No other hotel in the city centre of Cologne offers a better view of the imposing cathedral and the city’s landmark. To meet the demand of the international cosmopolitan audience and increase capacity, the neighbouring Blue Gold House has been converted and renovated for an extension of the Dom Hotel in Cologne. The building, which dates back to 1952, was given the name Blue Gold House due to its historic, turquoise-gold facade, which was designed in the company colours of the building owner, the well-known perfume water company 4711 Cologne Water.

As the building is listed as a heritage site, the Cologne Office for Heritage Protection was included in the planning from the outset. After a preserving renovation, the Blau-Gold-Haus now shines in a new glory - as an integral part of the extended Dom Hotel. Elements of historic architectural art and modern interior architecture combine here to form an ensemble with a special character. Elements of the magnificent exterior facade of the Blue Gold House are reflected in the interior - such as the cannelures, which are recurring in the interior with a leaf gold-plated surface.

The renovation of the Blue Gold House was carried out by Cologne-based LIG Lammerting Immobilien GmbH, which also operates the hotel, as a project developer. The team of interior designers JOI-Design from Hamburg placed great value on hand-picked materials such as fine woods, supple leather and the finest fabrics. The furniture was specially crafted and many lovingly crafted elements, such as the detailed views of the dome facade etched into the glass doors of the wardrobes and showers - in combination with corresponding photographs and images - create an unmistakable ambience.

The entire furnishing of the suites and rooms is characterised by understated elegance. With exclusive equipment, a colour composition in natural tones, high-quality bathrooms with black marble and valuable fittings from KEUCO, they stand for contemporary luxury. Accordingly, the interior designers opted for fittings and accessories from the Edition 300 series from KEUCO, whose discreet elegance fits perfectly into the overall concept. High-quality chrome surfaces with a special deep gloss elegantly reflect the light, while straight-lined and rounded shapes are harmoniously combined. The rectangular rosettes on the fittings consistently continue the bathroom’s straight-lined design. The matte genuine crystal glass of the EDITION 300 tumbler holder and the soap holder underlines the high-quality character of the room. Individually selectable lighting effects in orange, yellow, blue or green ensure an atmospheric end to the evening and an energetic start to the day.
